Client Problem:
When PSE&G adopted SAP as the enterprise resource planning system, it required a number of custom modules to be created within SAP to address specific PSE&G. This created a training and performance support problem for many of the user of the new SAP application. In responding to the need for creating training modules and performance support reference and help files, PSE&G found that they were using an excessive amount of resources, budget and personnel. The turn around time to create and implement these training and support programs was taking far too long and costing much more than expected. PSE&G needed to find a way to rapidly create custom training program for new SAP modules, which would allow them to use internal software personnel and existing training deployment capabilities
Solution:
Princeton Center for Education Services designed, developed and delivered a training development and performance support model, which allowed the software experts at PSE&G create specific training and support materials quickly. The training and support development tool was ExpressTrain, which used MS-Word Templates to capture the transfer information and allowed the technical writers to mark the content easily and to rapidly generate lessons. All lessons created with ExpressTrain's Software Application training module supported the "tell-me, show-me, let-me" instructional paradigm most successfully adopted for software training. The training programs and support materials were made available through a variety of formats to allow for easy access and review.
Summary:
Custom development of SAP Training Modules Support of software training paradigm (tell-me, show-me, let-me) Drastic reduction in the time to develop Delivered via multiple formats for broader deployment
Financial Impact:
PSE&G was able to create custom training modules in 75% less time.
